Mint

shirt- Primark/Penneys
jeans- River Island
nails- Topshop

I got these jeans in River Island at the weekend reduced to €25. I know the whole "pastel" thing is everywhere this season and pastels don't really suit me but I couldn't help jumping on the bandwagon when I saw these pants. There's just something about mint and white that always gets me. It's something that I always see Swedish bloggers pulling off really well but I never thought Irish weather was very suited to it. But sure I gave it a go!

In other news, I'm on reading week from college with week which means lots of assignments and all that lark to be done so I'll more than likely be glued to the library/my department computer room all week in an effort to get everything finished. This may either result in a temporary hiatus from blogging, or an influx in blogging, depending on procrastination levels....

....watch this space I guess.

Girl, You'll be a woman soon...

Last Saturday I celebrated turning 21. I can't even begin to describe how great a night was had and how thankful I am to all who came and especially to my family, Dan and the girls I live with for helping out with all the organisation, and of course the clean up. I really couldn't ask for better mates and I couldn't have been happier to be turning 21 with all of ye with me.
Of course, in true Aoife style, my Mum got me a ridiculous cake made that was both ballerina and engineering themed. Possibly the most ridiculous yet best thing I've ever seen.

After lusting after this Kate Moss for Topshop dress for ages I just stumbled across it last month on eBay and thought it was perfect for my 21st. Also couldn't resist wearing my new JC litas my brothers got me for my birthday, had to keep with the large cat theme (also on my nails might I add).

The biggest surprise of the night however was the present from my Dad. I was born on Valentine's Day and the day I was born he had gone out to buy my mum a rose, but when I arrived, he instead gave it to me. My parents kept that rose and pressed it and it's been sitting in a display cabinet at home for the past 21 years. Since then, every year my dad has sent me a single rose on my birthday, except for this year. Little did I know however, that my mum had organised for my original rose to be sent to Holland to be electroplated, forever preserving it for the many years to hopefully come.

A big thank you to everyone who made my birthday so awesome.
Roll on next year!

Playing with Fire

dress- Rare
shoes- Prada

I wore this on Tuesday night to my "Fire and Ice" themed Engineering Ball. I picked the dress up in Topshop about a month ago and it was only about €50 with student discount. Was perfect for the occasion and hopefully I'll get some wear out of it when the weather gets nicer too.

"So, did you come here on a motorbike...?

...that's what I was asked by someone today with reference to my outfit. The man in the locksmith also told me to be careful incase I fell and hurt myself on my spiked necklace. I wish I was as cool enough to ride a motorcycle but unfortunately I find it difficult to even control an electric scooter in a cul de sac so I doubt I'll ever be accepted into Hell's Angels.
One can dream though right?

leather jodpurs- Forever21
leather jacket- NastyGal
bowler hat- TKMaxx
Neil Young tee- birthday present from Dan
spike necklace, ring, brogues- Topshop
"engineer" necklace- MyNameNecklace

P.S. I am obsessed with my "engineer" necklace I got made for my birthday. The people at myNameNecklace could not have done a better job. I think it gives me ultimate nerd status, which I am very cool with.

Yesterday I was lucky enough to be featured on eBay's Style Hunter Ireland facebook page for their Friday Street Style. I was stopped by the wonderful street style blogger and dear friend of mine, Stephen Moloney of stitchesfabricandsoul, to take these photos on a rainy afternoon in Dublin. Suffice to say he brightened my day!

Hollywood Glam

For the record, I don't smoke, I just thought the cigarette worked for the whole "Hollywood Glam" thing. I've had this dress four years now and had only worn it once so I pulled it out for a ball I went to last Saturday and was surprised to see that it still fitted me.
I got it in the most amazing vintage shop in my hometown called Enchanted and they have a pretty good website too that you can find here. They have an amazing selection of evening dresses, wedding dresses, hats and accessories as well as everyday wear. I would seriously recommend checking it out.

Birthentine's Day/Night

DAY

shag coat, leather jacket, knit shorts, scarf- NastyGal
Alexa Bag- Mulberry
tshirt- Neil Young band tee
shoes- Urban Outfitters

NIGHT

shoes- Jeffrey Campbell Litas
leather trousers- NastyGal

So not only was last Tuesday Valentine's Day, but it was also the day I turned 21. I posted already about it I know but I thought I'd do another post about what I wore that day/night.
Dan and I went to Crackbird for lunch as I'd luckily gotten tweetseats which is an incredible offer they do where you tweet them and basically you get a free lunch out of it. I was amazed that there were no strings attached either. Also, even though they've moved location, their food is as good as ever you'll be glad to hear.
That night then, Dan brought me out for cocktails in Capitol on Aungier street and I got a chance to wear my new Jeffrey Campbells which pleased me greatly.

Dan also got me a 50mm lens for my camera  for my birthday that I have been obsessed with since I got so expect lots more rookie photographer photos in the pipeline.

Hope everyone had as  great a Valentine's as I did!
