On Christmas Day...

And so this is Christmas.... and thus ends my advent posting.
I hope Christmas was good to you all as it was to I. I got an SLR camera so you can expect some pretty mediocre attempts at artistic photography up here in the near future. As for now, three "super-cool" photos taken on my phone with vintage effects aplenty.
 Enjoy!

On the eve of Christmas eve...and Christmas eve...

The well known festive microbes

Santa Claus Crab Claw

And why wouldn't you have Christmas themed microbes and Clab Claw Santa Claus's on your Christmas tree? (not to mention the lion that is for some reason creepin' under our tree)

It's great to be home for Christmas and meet up with old school friends, a number of whom made me extremely embarrassed by telling me they read my blog. I know I put it up online but I never really think people will read it so it's nice to know that my writing and thoughts are somewhat entertaining to others and not just myself. So thanks to those who I was chatting to last night, and to everyone else a very

On the twenty first/second day of Christmas...

Apologies for missing yesterday's post. I'm sure no one really cares but I feel bad for not keeping up to date with my advent posting.
On Tuesday Dan and I exchanged Christmas presents and I am now the proud owner of an Anne Klein red velvet blazer! It's like Christmas in a jacket and has an oversized black button to fasten it. Think little girl from Schindler's list in her red coat. I am besotted with it! I wore it yesterday in fact into town for the last little bit of Christmas shopping and paired it with the other present dan got me; a Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon tshirt that makes me feel like a badass.....or Alexa Chung ....or Ashley Green....either way I'm not complaining, though I think Ashley Green was in Twilight so I'd prefer to be Alexa Chung.

Not my blazer but one very similar

Alexa Chung in a Sonic Youth tee (my brother actually has this one that I may have to steal)

Ashley Greene in a Pink Floyd tee

As an aside, a few people have mentioned to me recently that they prefer my old outfit posts I used to do. I'm considering going back to that style of blogging if people enjoyed it so I guess watch this space!

Heading home for Christmas tomorrow!

On the 20th day of Christmas...

Last week my friend Chloe (Clothilde) of thetraintattoo.wordpress.com asked could she use me for one of her "December Days" photos. Basically she is taking a photo and uploading it every day of December. She's extremely talented photography wise, not to mention modeling wise, just take a look here; stunning.
Anyways this is just one of the photos she took of me as I frolicked like a little kid around the Rose Garden in college in the freezing temperatures. Fair play to Chloe for making me look some way presentable. That's the sign of a good photographer if you ask me!
If you're interested, you can see the full series on her blog here.

On the 18th and 19th days of Christmas...

So yesterday we had our "Sligo Girls Christmas Dinner" night where we got as many of us together as we could for a night of festivities (though pesky delayed flights did prevent one of the crew from making it). So the plan was to have dinner and drinks and head out after but we all got tired come 11p.m. and so snuggled up on the couch to watch "Seven". Not the most Christmassy film I must admit but a good one nonetheless. I also was given the simple job of making dessert. Literally all I had to do was follow the recipe but I somehow still managed to mess it up as only I can when it comes to food so instead of being the yummy looking raspberry cheesecake brownies from the book, my friends inquired seriously as to whether I was attempting to serve them more mashed potato and gravy. Jamie Oliver I am not.
What my dessert should have looked like.

Now, usually I would be bringing you photos of this wondrous event all taken so artistically on my wonderful iPhone with vintage effects applied by the plenty, unfortunately though, a great tragedy has befallen my life in that on Saturday night at a friend's 21st, my beloved iPhone drowned. Due to this, I am back using my trusty old Nokia and seeing as my camera charger is still in Sligo, I have no photo taking apparatus. Heaven forbid, I know, I won't be able to take anymore photos of myself for a few more days.

As if losing my "hip-one" (Dan's name for my iPhone) wasn't bad enough, the internet was down in our house last night so I couldn't get my daily Christmas post up yesterday and thus the amalgamation post today.

Now time to relax a bit before another 21st this evening and then my Chrismas day with Dan tomorrow! I would say "expect photos to follow".......alas......

On the fifteenth day of Christmas...

... a hello.
After over a year of blogging my brother told me today that he has seen my blog. Hey there brother if you're reading this. So basically, I can expect a mountain of abuse over Christmas as this is most definitely a source of great ammo.
Consider it an early Christmas gift.

On the fourteenth day of Christmas...

Christmas Nails

I'm on the hunt for somewhere that would do Christmas nails in Dublin.
Suggestions???

On the thirteenth day of Christmas...

La Senza Meerkat Christmas pajamas!!!!! My mum gave these to me when I met up with her at the weekend. Apparently the elves had left them at the house cos Santa wanted me to get to wear them in the run up to Christmas. They are the type of thing that I would create myself!
Unsurprisingly, they are sold out on LaSenza's online store though I saw a couple of pairs left in the Grafton Street store last week.
I am wearing my pair at the moment and I would definitely recommend them for any meerkat and Christmas enthusiasts out there. (Aoife Daly I'm looking at you!)

On the twelfth day of Christmas...

Vintage Customised Levi`s Shearling Trim Shorts

Picked these up in Urban Outfitters at the weekend. Such a simple but effective way to give a classic garment a wintery twist. Also, apologies for my legs looking different colours in the picture on the right, since I've switched to this blog from my old "Cooltured" fashion blog I seem to have forgotten how to take semi decent photos of clothes. Also I clearly didn't wear these bare-legged today, I was wearing thick black tights which I'd taken off before I realised I wanted a photo.
I've also decided to give my blog a Christmassy background, mainly because I was bored. Enjoy!

On the eleventh day of Christmas...

Christmas Outfit No.2
ribs swimsuit- Black Milk
disco pants- American Apparel
Russian Red lipstick- MAC

My mam was up yesterday and we spent such a Christmassy day around Dublin. We went for lunch with my brother, went shopping and I even dragged her into Trinity to go look at the Christmas tree. We made my brother take photos of us too but unfortunately they're still on his camera so I cannot share them here.
Anyways, not sure if I've mentioned before but I've wanted a pair of american Apparel disco pants for ages so I brought mum in yesterday to show her them. After seeming dubious at first, she agreed that they would look pretty awesome with my Black Milk ribs bodysuit so agreed to get them for me as a little treat. My mam really is great, she's like me, but older and better!
Thanks mammy, you really are great!
I plan on wearing this to a 21st I'm going to this weekend so expect some photos of how it turns out soon!
Hope everyone's having a good Sunday and to my friends starting their finals tomorrow, GOOD LUCK!
Now, off to write a lab report on CNC machining; the joys!

On the ninth day of Christmas...

It's hard to beat Christmas drinks with good friends. Although my Mam is coming up to see me tomorrow, which may just beat them.

On the eight day of Christmas...

Christmas Outfit No.1

Here is one of my outfits I plan to wear over the Christmas period. The dress and shoes I own, the bag, unfortunately not. I'll have to find a cheap substitute to complete the look.
Can't think about Christmas parties until at least after this Maths exam tomorrow though. Back to study now.

On the seventh day of Christmas...

It's tough to feel Christmassy while studying for a test on Differential Equations.

Merry Christmas  all the same!

On the sixth day of Christmas...

Not a picture post today guys, sorry, I know you all love looking at photos of me, but I thought I'd change things up today. Today's Advent treat is a list of my TOP 5 CHRISTMAS MOVIES!!!

1)Elf

Taking the top spot is "Elf". With Will Ferrel at his finest as a 6ft man who thinks he's an elf and a blonde Zoeey Deschanel, you've got all the ingredients for a great Christmas movie. Plus it's set in Manhattan, and I love New York.

2) It's a Wonderful Life
Makes my whole family cry every single year without fail. If you do not cry while watching this, then you sir, are made of stone, STONE!!!

3) The Grinch
Dr. Zeuss + Christmas = perfection

4) Home Alone 2
Once again, New York at Christmas, you've got my vote.

5) Miracle on 34th Street

This isn't one I would have had in my list last year as it had been awhile since I'd seen it. Then one day after a night out during the snow last year, I was having a duvet day with my friend Emer and we decided to watch it. Cried like babies. A worthy contender indeed.

On the fifth day of Christmas...

This is me in front of the christmas tree in our college cafe. I like to think the security men put it up rather than the cool cats that work in the actual cafe but who's to know. (apart from them...clearly)
Thanks to Alan for taking the photo, and thanks a lot to the guy who walked past and made it blurry.

Merry Christmas!

P.S. I think the poster with pi on it in the background really makes this shot, especially cos it's a poster looking for people to join the "University Challenge" team.

P.P.S. I realised today that this "Christmas photo every day until Christmas" thing I'm doing is like a virtual advent calender, which I like, cos I don't have a real one this year.

On the fourth day of Christmas...

...the perfect Christmasy packpack.

even though I love my Paul Smith knock-off satchel I got in Dubai last summer, I must admit that its one-shoulder-ness coupled with heavy college books are not a nice mix for my poor shoulder and so I've been on the lookout for a backpack style replacement. I have a leather one I got in fist year of college but I find it far too heavy and bulky to be practical. This one however is not only practical, but festive, also, it's in the sale!
